We will develop the functionality for editors to be able to singpost users to content that is not only a research group or theme from the research section landing page. We will allow editors to create a wider variety of content types within the research section and tag and categorise it, so that it can be cleanly displayed in tabs, columns or rows on the research section landing page.

We will develop the functionality for editors to be able to make relationships to profiles from more different types of content than publications, groups and themes that this functionality is currently limited to. We will also develop the functionality for profiles to be flexible in how they pick these connections up. We will allow profile editors to define how the connections to the various content types works.

Imagery is a huge part of any website, and a Haiku website is no different. One of the main ways to obtain high quality images for websites is through stock image websites (websites that you can purcahse images from). Some of these websites, and other image sources impose restrictions on the use of the images that you purchase or obtain through other methods. Currently, there is no way to add this information to an image on a Haiku website so that all of the editors are aware of what the restrictions may be. Therefore we will implement a new field that will allow editors to store notes about images, and ensure that the notes are always visible before an editor uses an image anywhere on a Haiku website. In line with this work related to images, we will review all of the information that is stored in a Haiku website about imagery, and ensure that it is sufficient, and organised in a user friendly way.

Currently, if you use the accordion display of pages on a Haiku website, the first item on the lisitng is automatically listed in an open state, with the rest of the items showing only their page title until a user clicks to open them individually. If there is a lot of information on the first item in the accordion listing, it may be unclear that there is more content further down the page, or look a little messy. We will provide a new display option that will allow editors to choose if they would like the first item of the accordion listing to be expanded or closed, when a user first lands on the page.

This is currently postponed. A Subject Area categorization box for researchers using FAST (a substantial set of subject headings that correspond to the Library of Congress subject headings) as it is coded so that they can be linked up to information on the web.

Within researcher profiles we will add an additional content area where researchers can tag their profiles to improve their search rankings and to display a quick view to site visitors of what they are interested in. These key words will be selectable from a predefined list of words which will be taken from the Library of Congress Subject Headings.

This feature is on hold due to changes that are being made to profiles in advance of this - Researchers will have the ability to choose within their profile whether they would like to display auto connections on an individual basis. - Connections (manual and automatic) will be re-orderable within the profile

This functionality will increase the location options for portlets across the site, providing you with more flexibility of where you can add content, and which type of content you can add. There will still be some restrictions based on best practice and design, but these will be as limited as possible.
