Proposal

Imagery is a huge part of any website, and a Haiku website is no different. One of the main ways to obtain high quality images for websites is through stock image websites (websites that you can purcahse images from). Some of these websites, and other image sources impose restrictions on the use of the images that you purchase or obtain through other methods. Currently, there is no way to add this information to an image on a Haiku website so that all of the editors are aware of what the restrictions may be. Therefore we will implement a new field that will allow editors to store notes about images, and ensure that the notes are always visible before an editor uses an image anywhere on a Haiku website. In line with this work related to images, we will review all of the information that is stored in a Haiku website about imagery, and ensure that it is sufficient, and organised in a user friendly way.

Stories

AS AN EDITOR I want to be able to include notes about an image that are only visible to logged in users with access to the image library SO THAT I can let other editors know about any restrictions or facts about the image, without having to specifically get in touch with them outside of the Haiku system.

AS AN EDITOR I want to be able to see any notes about an image referenced by it wherever I choose to use it on the website SO THAT I do not have to visit the image in the image library to see the notes about it.

Submission

What are you trying to do that our product is not able to support?

We would like to have the option to include notes about a specific image - for example if there are any restrictions on how the image can be used.

What is the reason that you need to be able to do this?

We only have permission to use some of our images for a specific one off purpose - eg on an individual news item. We would like to be able to put a note with the image not to reuse it, especially as it is now very easy to select images used before.

What is the impact of you not being able to do this?

Breaching copyright.
