Carinne Piekema

Department of Paediatrics

I am responsible for the development and implementation of communications activities to help enhance and maintain the public face of the Department of Paediatrics as well as facilitate communication between the different groups within the Department.

One of my initial aims is to identify areas where internal communication could run more smoothly. I am also Editor-in-Chief of the Department’s webpages and work together with the University Press Office to raise awareness of our research to the media.

Between my initial stint at Oxford University as a research scientist and my return in my current role in 2015, I gained an MSc in Science Media Production from Imperial College in London and worked as a science journalist for the BBC Science Unit where I produced several of the BBC Radio 4 and World Service science weeklies and documentaries.
