Janice Young

Department of Experimental Psychology

My role encompasses three key areas of responsibility:

  • PA to Departmental Administrator
  • Communications Assistant
  • General Office

As PA to the Departmental Administrator, I am responsible for managing Tracy's electronic diary, prioritising her busy business and work schedule, being the first point of call for her visitors and providing administrative support.

I am the Support Staff Representative on the Experimental Psychology Athena SWAN SAT Committee, as well as providing administration and secretarial support to the team.

As Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Experimental Psychology website, I am responsible for ensuring that all content is current and relevant, including seminars, events, participation opportunities and profiles of all staff, DPhil students and visitor members. I also assist the Head of Departments' EA with the departmental newsletter. I am a member of the Medical Sciences Division Communications Network and was also invited to join the Medical Sciences Division Communications Working Group. As Communications Officer, I am responsible for developing the communication strategy and activities, encouraging and strengthening information-sharing, both internally and externally. This includes the development and management of departmental communication channels, plus our SharePoint site, plasma screen and Oxford Talks listings. As a member of the Divisional Communications Network, I ensure that the department keeps abreast of and embraces new communication technology.

My general office duties include the production and distribution of induction packs for new staff members, administration of the department's car parking spaces,  maintenance and replenishment of the stationery store, placing orders for stock on the University Marketplace and allocating stock and postage charges to the relevant project codes and grants.
