Haiku Evolution
Twitter Cards
accepted
2
A feature request for the development of funtionality that will enable the use of Twitter cards for content on Haiku sites.
Proposal
We will develop the functionality that will allow Twitter cards to be generated from content on Haiku sites, when the URL of an item of content is tweeted.
Stories
AS AN EDITOR I want the system to define the parameters (title, description, image) for adding Twitter summary cards and Twitter summary cards with large images, to all suitable content types within Haiku, when a link to content on my website is tweeted SO THAT it will create richer, more interesting and shareable social media posts when site URLs are shared by anyone.
AS A USER I want Twitter cards to be created when I share an item of content from a Haiku site SO THAT I can see the richer information related to my tweet, and help to drive more users to the website.
AS AN EDITOR I want Twitter cards to be created in tweets when a Twitter user shares a URL of my Haiku site SO THAT the users followers will get more rich information without having to click on the URL, to help drive them to my website.
Submission
What are you trying to do that our product is not able to support?
Add functionality to add and define parameters for adding twitter cards to event, webpage, news, research theme/project, and blog pages. See: https://dev.twitter.com/cards/overview
What is the reason that you need to be able to do this?Creates richer, more interesting and shareable social media posts when site URLs are shared by *anyone*. Functionality should be available across all page types within Haiku. Brings a more professional look to shared content from Haiku sites and may boost engagement.
What is the impact of you not being able to do this?Limits us to uploading a picture and adding links to tweets, reducing letter count (although twitter may be resolving this for us anyway by no longer including them in letter counts in the future), which give us less room to say what we want and looks less professional. Could be missing out on enhanced web traffic and optimal engagement/sharing of our content.
The Haiku Oversight Committee thought that this would be a welcome improvement and aligns well with work already proposed for improving our Google search results with schema.org.
