Interactive map
A feature request for functionality that allows editors to create an interactive map, pin pointing locations of where people, or projects are throughout the world.
Proposal
We will develop the functionality that allows editors to assign a location to various content types, that will then allow a map to be generated, showing the various locations in the world that the content is related to. We will allow an editor to generate the map on a per content basis, in multiple locations.

AS AN EDITOR I want to be able to create an interactive world map SO THAT I can show information in relation to it's world location.
AS AN EDITOR I want to be able to plot points on the map, and have them linking to certain a page(s) information SO THAT I can utilise a different more interactive way of signpositng users around my site.
AS AN EDITOR I want to be able to apply location information directly to a variety of content types SO THAT the system can automatically generate a map that is populated using the infortmation that I have applied to content.
AS AN EDITOR I want to have the option to plot points on the map to a specific location ranging from country to specific address SO THAT I can put multiple pins in one country if required, or simply put a pin in the middle of a country as the representation.
AS AN EDITOR I want to be able to have the option to have some pop up information when a user clicks on a pin that can contain a small amount of text and links SO THAT I can use the functionality to show information to a user without them having to leave the page.
AS AN EDITOR I want to be able to use this functionality in multiple locations across my website SO THAT I am not restricted.
AS A USER I want to be able to move and manipulate a map that has pins on it to provide me with links to other areas of the website, or simply show me further information SO THAT I can use a more interactive method to find out further information.

What are you trying to do that our product is not able to support?
We would like to be able to have a world map which is more interactive than `mygoogle maps'.
What is the reason that you need to be able to do this?With students and employees from around the world we would like to be able to demonstrate where people come from and where they go to after completing a course in our department. This could be a useful marketing feature of interest to other departments as well, in particular those trying to attract students from across the globe. We would like to be able to add a pin to a country then have it link to a profile of an individual. It would be great to be able to show also some simple analytics with this map as well e.g. country of origin, gender, and others.
What is the impact of you not being able to do this?We feel our page is a bit flat and we can't bring to life the wide range of career paths that people come from and go into from the courses we offer. We are in competition with a large number of other universities and would like to show what our USP is for this particular course and why they might choose Oxford.
